Is Leviticus 11 Still Relevant for Today?

leviticus-elevenIs the Distinction Between Clean and Unclean Animals in Leviticus 11 Still Relevant for Today?

Introduction: Is the distinction of clean and unclean animals made in Lev 11:2-23, 41-45 (and in Deut 14:3-20) still relevant today? The majority of Christians and even certain groups of Jews no longer observe these distinctions in their dietary habits. It is claimed by some that the adherence to the Biblical dietary instruction is an inconsistency on the part of observing Christians, being based–so it is alleged–on the ceremonial law, a law fulfilled in Christ and not binding for Christians. Pagan and Christian Creeds Their Origin and Meaning

pagan-chris-creedPagan and Christian Creeds Their Origin and Meaning

Introduction: The subject of Religious Origins is a fascinating one, as the great multitude of books upon it, published in late years, tends to show. Indeed the great difficulty to-day in dealing with the subject, lies in the very mass of the material to hand - and that not only on account of the labor involved in sorting the material, but because the abundance itself of facts opens up temptation to a student in this department of Anthropology (as happens also in other branches of general Science) to rush in too hastily with what seems a plausible theory. The more facts, statistics, and so forth, there are available in any investigation, the easier it is to pick out a considerable number which will fit a given theory...

A Critical Look at Colossians 2:16

colossians216A Critical Look at Colossians 2:16

Introduction: Does Colossians 2:16 disparage the Sabbath, Festivals and New Moons? If not, what does it really mean? Careful exegesis reveals the true intent of this passage. Colossians 2:16-17 is one of the passages most commonly used to document the claim that the Sabbath and Holy Days are not required to be kept in the new covenant. The conclusion is that the "judging" refers to Judaizers trying to put pressure on the Colossians to keep these days, which Paul allegedly says should not be kept because they are only a shadow of the spiritual reality — Jesus Christ. Many have had to deal with this argument in defense of the belief that the Sabbath and Holy Days must still be kept. Does this passage say that the Colossians are being pressured by Judaizers to keep the Holy Days, or that they were being judged for keeping the Sabbath and Holy Days? The translators’ addition of the word "is" after "body" has a great bearing on determining the meaning of the verse...

The Primer on Biblical Law

biblical lawPrimer on Biblical Law

Introduction: A proper understanding of BIBLICAL LAW is important to our spiritual life. Blessings come from obedience to the Creator’s laws, and cursings from disobedience. God’s Law defines sin, as well as the character and nature of God, which is LOVE. The essential teaching of the Bible is the two great commandments: love for God, and love for one’s neighbor. These two great commandments are summaries of the Ten Commandments, which are in turn summaries of the rest of the Bible. This study of Biblical Law examines the first four books of the Bible, showing how the statutes explain and magnify the Ten Commandments... great-deceptionTitle: Satan's Great Deception /Author: Dr. C. Paul Meredith

Introduction: Did you know that ancient pagan beliefs and practices in many ways bore a striking resemblance to the beliefs and practices taught and followed by Christ and the apostles? This is the very reason for the most amazing and least realized fact of all, which is easily seen by reading through the New Testament, that the teachings and practices of Jesus and the apostles in the original true Church are not the same as we see in today's churches!
