The Unjust Steward, and You

Current outrage on “traditional” enrichment of public servants at the expense of the population evoke strains of the parable of the unjust steward told by the Lord Jesus Christ, as recorded in the gospel account of Luke 16. But to what end? As reminded by our elder Raul de Asis-Hipe during the Sabbath of February 5, 2011, surface reading would seem to advocate a practice no different from local corruption. The master in the parable seems to have been pleased by the steward’s desperate measures. But as the Lord Jesus Christ did on every occasion, how did He use this one illustration, both to unmask the pretentious displays of religious leaders, and instruct His true disciples about the extremely shrewd world in which they were to match with Godly wisdom as sons of light?
